I’m thinking about Spring… I’ve *been* thinking about Spring. And Summer. And Autumn…but mostly about Spring. I, like everyone else, is wondering when the chilly rain will subside and warm, sunny Spring will be here to stay. My roses, of course, are loving this rain as are the irises and muguet (!) but I seem to be extra sensitive to what the weather brings and I’ll be damned if I don’t just want to stay home everyday, eat soup, watch old movies and sleep cozily until Spring comes. I’m used to this sort of nagging feeling in winter but by the time May rolls around, I’ve usually hit my stride somewhat and feel ready to climb some mountains and shoot the moon.
In the meantime, there’s still projects, projects and more projects…not the least of which are the new perfumes for DAM and the PLAP project! (Peace Love and Patchouli, for those of you who don’t know about PLAP yet). Oh yes and upcoming stuff with the Natural Perfumers Guild. (WOW! It seems like I’m still showing up, it’s just my subconscious that wants to go back to bed. I have a sneaking suspicion that I am speaking out loud what a lot of people I know have been thinking and wanting. š )
Well, now that I’ve ranted for a paragraph or so… I’m off to the studio. Better late than never. And I’ll be completing my preparations for Friday’s talk at Denver Art Museum. We’ll be smelling the Italian Splendor collection while walking through the galleries and looking at the works that inspired it. Also on tap today is making further mods on my three (yes, 3!) patchouli concepts in order to narrow my choice down to one for “PLAP” and tonight’s class with my apprentice, Amber. So, even though it’s late in the day, there’s still tons to do. Off I go… wishing everyone a lovely day whether it be rain, snow or sun in your part of the world.

Where IS that warm, sunny Spring–have we not earned it yet? I can definitely relate, as it is frigid and sopping wet here in New England–all week! So instead of working in the garden, I’m reading blogs and marveling at your projects: the Italian Splendor Collection and Peace Love and Patchouli. I’ve hauled out a few sweaters from the winter clothes I had put away last month. Mmm…patchouli! The very thought warms me. All the best~ š
š Hi Elizabeth! Yes, I would like to know where the sun is right about now. It will be here soon, I’m sure, but I miss my friend… So glad that you stopped by to read my blog in the gloom; thank you for your comment! I’m really excited about my projects and the patchoulis, in particular, are at least a warm spot in my day. More to come on that for sure!
I’ll be a Patch Test Bunny for PLAP, and I’m really excited about it. I predict that I’ll be able to pick out your patchouli and Liz Zorn’s. Can’t wait to give it a go!
Oh, cool, Carrie Meredith! The PLAP project has been gaining TONS of steam as we get up to the launch date. SO EXCITING!! Well, I’ve narrowed it down to three but I really have to decide which design is my choice. Oh goodness. I hope that you WILL be able to guess which are ours… to feel our signatures. Looking forward to the process: fun fun FUN! š
Oh, I hope you get your sunny spring soon.
We’ve gone through sun and rain this spring and it seems we are fast approaching summer. š
Thank you, Ines~ š Yes, it’s rainy again today. I am happy about the moisture as we really need it but I’d love a little sun to enjoy what’s left of my lilacs. Oh well… I’m just usually spoiled by the weather in Boulder! I hope that Spring will last a little longer for you before Summer comes (even though I love Summer, do you?)
Yes, I love summer as it’s the season when I can lounge by the sea and enjoy my vacation doing nothing.
But I prefer high spring because it’s still not too hot, instead, it’s perfectly warm and the nights are still cold enough for sleeping with open windows without getting a heat stroke.
My body just doesn’t take well to heat. š
I’m with you, Ines! š High Spring , I think is my favorite time of year, too.
I Absolutely love patchouli. I tried to grow some last summer, but the heat was brutal here in Ohio, and my soil to clayey. Alas it just didn’t take off. I may try again when I revamp my beds. Can’t wait o hear what you come up with.
ooooooh, Dede! I should try growing some patchouli herb as well! š I have some dried herb but that sounds fabulous! I hope that you will love what I come up with. I still haven’t made my choice. Monday is the final decision and ship date, so I better get on it. There’s more to come for sure! Have a great weekend and do let me know how your re-planting of the patchouli works out!
