I had every intention of getting the ‘Secrets of Egypt” collection onto my website almost two weeks ago. Wow; time flies. I am thrilled to announce that I have finally gotten the lead out, as it were, and have uploaded everything to the site, so now you can try it! After the buzz created by Donna (Flora) at Perfume Smellin’ Things and her wonderful preview of these perfumes, cleverly entitled “Pyramid Schemes”, there has been widespread interest in my Egyptian beauties. (Thank you Flora! To check out her gift with words go here: http://perfumesmellinthings.blogspot.com/2010/07/pyramid-schemes-egyptian-perfumes-of.html ). I guess the time hasn’t been completely wasted, though. I expanded the 1,000 Lilies scent (with plans to add a couple more as the research continues) to include a new version: the Flappers and Pharaohs Presentation PERFUME bottle.
This Art Deco thing is really infusing my psyche… pretty soon I may take up smoking! (well, not really).
***To celebrate, I’d like to do a little draw: please leave a comment and I will send a sampler set of the new collection to 5 lucky winners*** The draw will be open until July 20. Good luck everyone and have a fabulous weekend!
7/17/10: PS: I have been inspired to up the ante, so to speak, on the draw: Now I am going to give away a Flappers & Pharaohs: 1,000 Lilies presentation bottle to a lucky winner as well. Everyone who has commented is entered in the draw – good luck!
I would LOVE to try your artwork…(this would be a Perfect birthday gift, heh heh….)
have heard so much about you. 🙂
Hi Dabney! Thank you very much! 🙂 I wish you luck in the draw and Happy Birthday, too!
wow!
I have to enter the draw as my lucky star came back to me 🙂
wanna find out this beauty!
Hi Sergey! 🙂 Thank you for checking out my blog! I hope your lucky star shines in the draw.
This is fantastic news, Dawn! I cannot wait to try these.
You could compromise and just get one of those long cigarette holders to carry around, artfully, of course!
Congratulations on your collaboration with the Denver Art Museum!
Many Hugs,
Christine (RHM)
Hi Christine! 🙂 You know I thought of mentioning the long cigarette holder (it’s what was on my mind when I wrote that…LOL). Thank you, about DAM; I love working with them. It’s a great research project, I have to say. Good luck in the draw, my sweet. It’s great to see you here. ox<3
I can’t wait to come in and smell them! Any sandlewood in them? haha 🙂 I’m sure they are a wonderful exotic mix taking noses on a journey.
Hi Monica! We’ll have the Mummy bottles in the shop soon… we have the perfumes to sniff now, though. You might really like some of them quite a bit and yes, there is sandalwood in a bunch of them (those Egyptians had some favorite aromatics that they used over and over again…) I look forward to seeing you soon. 🙂 Good luck in the draw!
Congrats on one month blogging! I am new to the world of natural perfumes and the mystery of musk project is how I found your blog and your perfumery. I want to small all of your fragrances!
Thank you, JoanElaine! 🙂 I am so happy that you found my blog! I hope that you have been enjoying it as much I have been. Good luck in the draw!
I would love to try your perfumes, and have enjoyed reading about the musk perfumes you’ve created.
Hi, Autumn! Thank you very much! I will enter you in the draw and best of luck! 🙂
Finally! I was browsing your site the other day trying to find them but thought I was doing something wrong. 🙂
I’m not sure at the moment, as I haven’t went to check it out yet, does this include the Eau de Musk (I’m sorry if I got the name wrong) that was in the Musk Mystery blog project? I would love to try that one, and of course be included in the draw. 🙂
Hi, Ines! Nope you weren’t doing anything wrong… I was just so late getting these scents uploaded. The sample set draw is for the Secrets of Egypt collection, but all of the mystery of musk perfumes are there as well. They’re all listed in the “Limited Editions by Parfums des Beaux Arts” section. Everything new is now up at the site: YAY! and don’t forget that if you place your order between now and July 21, you can get 20% off using member code july10. That way you can get some favorites and try the musk eau natural, too. Good luck in the draw! 🙂
Please enter me! I would love to try them. I have a favourite daydream of being an egyptian princess, annointed with oils, and sailing down a river on a hot day.
🙂 I love that daydream… can I join? Good luck in the draw!
How exciting! Please enter me in this drawing – I can already feel that beautiful bottle in my hot little hand. Love it!
Hi Josephine! You are entered! Good luck in the draw! 🙂
I would be so excited if I won a chance to smell your hard work. I’m sure it’s amazing!
Hi Jess! Thank you for your compliments! Good luck in the draw! 🙂
This looks like a great series and the bottle is really nice. Would love to be a winner of the sample set. Thanks -Ross
Hi, Ross! 🙂 Thank you very much for stopping by and your compliments on the bottle! And guess what? I have been inspired to up the ante, so to speak: I am going to give away a Flappers & Pharaohs: 1,000 Lilies presentation bottle to a lucky winner as well. Everyone is entered in the draw – good luck! 🙂
I read Flora’s review a couple of weeks ago and have been looking forward to this new collection becoming available! This givaway opportunity is so exciting and how wonderful of you to offer it!
🙂 Thank you! You’re welcome — I am happy to have a new venue to collaborate in. Good luck in the draw!
Having done such a wonderful job with the Mysteries of Musk Project (they are divine!), how on earth have you also found the time to develop yet another creative line? The Perfume Smellin’ Things write-up has me itching to try all 4 of the Secrets of Egypt, and Antiu, Keni (does this one have the spikenard note of your wonderful Arome d’Egypt?) and 1,000 Lilies sound like sure-things for me. The bottle is adorable! Will the Denver Museum be selling these fragrances as well? I get to Denver a few times a year on business, and really want to see the exhibit; it would be an additional bonus to see these scents there. *Someday* I’m going to take an extra day and drive to Boulder to see your studio. All the best to you on this new launch!
Lisa! 🙂 Thank you so much for such kind words and well, I just hope you like these too. The Secrets of Egypt collection is quite different than the Mystery of Musk project but psychically, there was some cross over. Yes, the Denver Art Museum has these scents: the Mummy bottle and the mini flasks. The Flappers and Pharaohs Art Deco bottle from this post is new, but I am having a little trunk show at DAM on August 27, so I will have it there then. I hope that you will come to Boulder and see me sometime when your schedule allows. It would be such a pleasure to meet and show to the studio! Good luck in the draw, too!
Dawn, this is so exciting! I wish I could be there to see and try all these in person. I love the whole idea of ancient Egyptian things, especially if they involve incense and resins. Best wishes for grand success with this new collection
Hi Margaret! 🙂 Oh, if you could come to the studio we’d have a blast sniffing and sniffing! come by anytime…! I wish you luck in the draw! and a lovely weekend~
I always used to like to pretend I was living in ancient Egypt as a kid, so of course I would love to have this. Also Flappers are my heroines…please enter me!
Lucy,
You must have been one awesome kid! (you are a wonderful adult…) I love that story!! 🙂 I think you will love these scents! Good luck in the draw! 🙂
I’ve loved your scents ever since I discovered your work through MUA, and this collection sounds fantastic. I would love to get a chance to wear this scent!
Hi Amy! Thank you for checking out my blog and your sweet comments! It’s great to see you here. I will enter you and wish you luck in the draw! 🙂 have a great weekend, too!
Oh my gosh! I would love to have my name entered into the draw. Thank you so much for the opportunity.
Hi Lisa! You got it! Good luck in the draw 🙂
dawn, please throw my hat into this ring! i’m wildly intrigued by the whole secrets of Egypt collection. also, i do recommend you avoid smoking. although a clove cigarette in a long ivory holder would not be amiss.
Hi, Linda!
No worries… I’m not really going to take up smoking but I like the idea of just smelling the clove ciggy (unlit) in the long holder. oh yes. 🙂 I am happy to throw your hat in the ring and good luck!
Those bottles for the Denver art museum exhibit were the most beautiful I have ever seen! Would love to be in the draw! Thanks so much.
Hi, Alison! Thank you very much! The Mummy bottles turned out really well – I still get such a kick every time I see them. 🙂 Good luck in the draw!
Dawn, I am a loyal repeat customer who has sampled most all your perfumes with exception of the latest you are now offering. I’d love to sample these as well.
Hi, Angela!
Thank you for checking out my blog and entering the draw. 🙂 I’m wishing you luck! It’s great to hear from you…happy Sunday to you!
Aahhh!! I just discovered your Facebook page and blog!! I always get complimented on all your scents, probably because they are not like anything else out there, very unique!!! Love them and can’t get enough!!! Keep making them!!! They are the best!!!
🙂 WOW! Thank you Maddie! I am thrilled that you get compliments and love what I’m doing! You’re awesome for saying so… I’ll enter you into the draw so you maybe getting some new samples to try, if you win. Good luck in the draw and hope you ‘ll have a fabulous new week!
I showed the musk to a friend of mine yesterday, not a perfumista but someone who loves the good things of life, and she immediately said it was REALLY good, ethusiasticlly. I think that’s kind of the perfect bind taste test…
WOW! Thank you Lucy! I am happy with my musk design, I have to say. Even though I may be the only one who interpreted the project the way I did. It must have been that uber intense and traditional art school I went to. ( That education has served me well, though… :)) Thank you for showing my musk to you friend… your compliments and hers mean a lot to me. ❤
Dawn – You seem to get involved in some of the most fabulous projects! Please enter me in the draw. I would especially love to try the lillies.
HI! 🙂 I try to be at the right place at the right time… Plus, I love to collaborate. Working with other artists and especially wit eh Museum is great fun and challenging at the same time. It’s a big win win for me. I will enter you in the draw and good luck!
Must visit the store…I’ve heard great things from more than one Boulderite!!
Hi, Cynthia! 🙂 AWESOME! I’d love to have you stop by the shop~ anytime! In the meantime, I’ll enter you in the draw. Good luck!
I hope that I’m not too late to enter the drawing! I am enjoying your Musk Eau Natural right now, BTW. Such an interesting progression from herbal to almost-gourmand musk. Gorgeous!
Hi, Elizabeth! 🙂 No, you are not too late! It’s just midnight now so the drawing closes just behind you (well, there’s one more along with you). Thank you for entering my draw (good luck!) and I am so happy that you are enjoying musk eau natural. It really is an unusual design.
ever since i discovered perfume blogs, i have been addicted to them and their authors and their comments and participants!!! in fact, i just came here from laurie’s post at sonoma scent studio. so please enter me in the draw. i would love to try your stuff…..
Hi, Jo! I’m happy to see you here and I hope that this blog will be a regular stop for you as you tour the perfumery blogs (so many of them!). I am happy to enter you into the draw; good luck! Thank you for stopping by.
Oh, I hope I’m not too late for the draw! Laurie @ Perfume in Progress posted a link to your blog this morning. Yay, another wonderful perfumer’s blog I can follow. I’m a big fan; Inner Sanctum is my all time HG incense rose scent. Ok, enough gushing 🙂 Thanks for the opportunity!
Hi, Rosarita! Thank you for checking out my blog and your wonderful compliments for Inner Sanctum! I am so happy to know it’s a favorite!! I will have to thank Laurie for posting about it… it’s so nice of her. (not surprising: she’s great!) I am sorry that the draw did close at midnight. But we’ll be doing others so you’ll have other chances to win. I hope that you will come back often and enjoy the blog…! 🙂
